Ismail Dockrat is the CEO of Denel Maritime, the new Denel division. He has more than ten years' experience at CEO level. He was previously CEO of Denel Aerostructures (2010-2014), Denel Aviation (2007-2009), and Wesgro (2004-2006).
Previous positions include a stint at Trade and Investment South Africa as General Manager, and at Armscor as project manager in the aeronautics logistics division. He began his career at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). Ismail holds a National Diploma in Electronics Engineering and completed his MBA at the University of Cape Town.
Shaun Matthews is the Executive Manager, Operations of Denel Maritime. Prior to the establishment of Denel Maritime he was the Executive Manager of Operations at Denel Integrated Systems and Maritime. His introduction to the Denel Group was in early 2012 when he took up a position in Denel Integrated Systems Solutions (DISS), where he applied his experience in Programme and Bid Management and assisted Denel with business development on new business areas.
Previous employers were the SA Navy Submarine Service from 1979 to 1989, followed by Thales where he was able to broaden his maritime and technical skills further and gained valuable engineering and management training and experience from 1990 to 2012. At Thales he was involved at programme management level in many successful naval bids and programmes, both locally and abroad. The 23 year stint at Thales culminated in a period of working in Thales Netherlands (TNL) as a Bid Manager and Capture Team Leader for both TNL and Thales SA.
Shaun is well-known in SA Navy circles, Armscor, the local defence industry at large and by numerous foreign suppliers and stakeholders.
